Cowboy Hockey Tourney

Cowboy Hockey Tourney

This painting is a tribute to the small rural communities of Western Canada, where two great traditions—cowboy life and hockey—intertwined. Many cowboys not only worked the land but also laced up skates for local tournaments, balancing ranch life with Canada’s beloved sport.

The imagery of the weathered skates and cowboy hat captures this unique blend of grit, heritage, and community spirit. Some cowboys could have pursued hockey careers, but many chose to remain on the land, carrying forward the legacy of the West. Cowboy Hockey Tourney celebrates that choice and the enduring bond between culture, sport, and tradition.
